Greetings All,

During the past few years, I’ve attended countless Risk Management and Insurance industry conferences seminars, and closed-door meetings, both with companies and industry associations. Regardless of where I’ve been, from Paris to Pittsburgh, insurance industry professionals have consistently asked for a streamlined body of insurance industry stakeholders to talk about best practices on Diversity & Inclusion (D&I). These calls have intensified since March of 2021 when the New York State Department of Financial Services published its D&I regulatory guidance.

Currently, the state of D&I in Insurance is consumed by the Finance Industry and it is stifling us. We don't have a single identifiable industry-wide roundtable that excludes other financial institutions. Insurance is an additive. Currently, D&I is fragmented between trade associations and think tanks that fail to have a lens for Risk Management and fail to codify how participants engage the industry. While speaking on Personal Data risks at the 100th anniversary of ForsikringoPension, the Insurance & Pension trade association of Denmark, CEOs asked for uniformity in what D&I means. In Baltimore, Maryland at the National African American Insurance Association attendees identified miscommunications between professional types: Supplier Diversity, Human Resources, and Product Delivery.

I think that it is time that we get organized because all other industries/sectors rely on the global Risk Management industry for guidance. Our team has engaged the University of Georgia’s Terry College, the #1 business school for Insurance in the USA and in my opinion globally to host an Insurance Industry D&I Roundtable. Our objective is to both take advantage of some of the pioneering resources that they boast, as well as, faculty support that we deem necessary. UGA has worked with us to produce the first-in-class certification process for the ISO-30415 Standard in D&I. Together we’ve produced the first 133 D&I Professionals certified in the International Standard. These individuals represent all 11 business sectors across 14 nations on 4 continents.

Join us in building on the foundation of the International Standard to organize the deployment of D&I across the globe for:

  • Sub-industry: Property & Casualty, Life, and Health & Disability

  • Business Model: Reinsurers, Carriers, and Brokers

  • Professional Operation: Human Resources, Supplier Diversity, and Product Delivery

Sincerest regards,

James Felton Keith
